Majella Fitzsimmons
Co-ordinator
Majella is almost the face of Village Kids in Townsville!
She began with the opening of our first centre at Wulguru in 2003 and has been the initial Director of 4 of our 5 Townsville Centres in the first 5 years of our existitance. She was instrumental in setting up and instilling the strong philosophy and practices that make Village Kids such a high quality care provider and the envy of our peers.
Aside from this, Majella officially took on the energetic role of Centre Co-ordinator in 2007, which means she is responsible for the day to day operation of the centres and moves between all 5 Townsville Centre assisting the Directors, staff and families with all aspects of their days at Village Kids as needed… sometimes you'll see her, sometimes you won't but she is always around and happy to help. Should you ever want to chat, simply see your centre director and she will provide your contact information or arrange a meeting.
I am kept constantly busy in my work role but I love the world of early childhood education and passionately work to improve it everyday! I also still enjoy visiting to see the wonderful work that the staff do each day just as part of their normal week.
Outside of kindy, I am busy, busy, busy! I have a love of life and a great desire to live it to the max so my spare time is spent trying to cram as much as I can into it!
I love spending time with my family and enjoy exercising although they say I talk more than I walk.

Christine Butler
Centre Co-ordinator
Hi,
My name is Christine Butler and I have been working in the child care industry since 1988. I started out as a childcare assistant and worked my way up through the centre to become a Centre Director. I then left working at a centre level to become a Quality Assurance Manager. This involved supporting centre’s through the NCAC Accreditation Process and ensuring the Child Care Act and Legislation were being adhered to correctly.
For the past 18 months I have been working as a Centre Co-ordinator for Village Kids Childrens Centres which involves supporting 6 centres in the Ipswich, Wide Bay and Far North QLD regions. I am thoroughly enjoying my role and working with the Village Kids team and have a strong belief in the Philosophy of the Village Kids centres.
I have an Advanced Diploma in Childrens Services and am currently studying my Certificate IV in Workplace Assessor and Training to enable me to deliver quality training and assessing of our childcare staff at an optimum level. My passion has always been for working in the child development industry and ensuring all children are provided with the highest quality care possible. I also believe in recognising the importance of all our staff on every level and the role that they play in each individual child’s life.
I enjoy gardening, music, strolling around markets and catching up with family and friends just to name a few of my favourite pastimes, I especially enjoy catching up with my 3 adult daughters, 5 grandchildren and spending time with my little pug dog.
I am currently renovating my home – this keeps me quite busy and out of trouble (most of the time)

Susie Fulton
Director Wulguru
Susie has been with the Village Kids Team since 2004, starting as a Group Leader and leaping into the Directorship of our original centre in Wulguru when Majella moved to open our 2nd Townsville Village Kids Centre. Susie has remained within this position and being a locally born and bred girl, maintains the wonderful community feel and the high standard for which the centre is known and loved.
Having a flair for the written word and a wealth of experience and enthusiasm, Susie is the one to go to in our team when any assistance is needed with newsletters and policies. It is certainly a passion of hers and one we are happy to accommodate! Feel free to contact her with any constructive comment or suggestion for any of these areas- they will always be warmly welcomed.
Other passions within the early childhood education and care field for Susie include the challenge to always strive in delivering the highest quality care for each family within her centre and supporting her team along the way. She believes that a centre only excels because of the team there and that if a job is worth doing, it's worth giving 110%. You will see this reflected in the effort and love that Susie and the entire Wulguru crew share each day.
Outside of Village Kids, Sue spends her time shepherding her own challenging 'child' - a 3 year old Labrador and enjoying the creativity and chaos that goes with renovating an old little house. Plenty to keep her out of AND get her into trouble!
