Family Group Conferencing at Village Kids: Empowering Families, Supporting Children
Our Family Group Conferencing (FGC) service empowers families to build child-focused plans that mend relationships, repair connections, and establish sustainable support networks for the future.
As a preferred provider to the Department of Communities and Justice (DCJ) and leading non-government services, we deliver Family Group Conferencing (FGC) with a proven record of strong, child-focused outcomes and achievable plans that support families at every stage.
Family Group Conferencing is a proven, family-led process that brings together parents, children, extended family, and key support people to make important decisions about children’s care and wellbeing. Guided by an impartial, experienced facilitator, families collaborate to address concerns, share perspectives, and develop practical, long-term plans—always with the child’s best interests at the centre.
FGC is ideal for families concerned about the safety or wellbeing of a child who wish to self-refer and to support plan development for children engaged with the child protection or out of home care system. Common reasons for referral include building plans to support new parents, assisting families to rebuild safe connections, identifying alternative living arrangements when a child or young person cannot remain with their parent(s), forming goals to build safety at home and creating transition plans to reunite children with their parents.
